Mariah has immersed herself in the world of dyeing since she was young and has developed her own systems for various dye techniques. In this class students will discuss how to choose the best dye technique for achieving the desired result when hooked, and will then learn how to select dyes, dye the wool, and correct any issues that may arise in the process. With her extensive knowledge of techniques and her love of color she will teach students how to dye wool for a specific project as well as "play" with color and technique to create unique pieces. This fast paced dye class will have you on your feet most of the day and will give you countless handouts and techniques to take home!

Mariah Krauss is a fifth-generation rug hooker who loves to push herself to create new techniques, develop new ideas, and pioneer different styles of rug hooking. Her first hooked piece of note, Aries Woman, took basic swatch-dyeing and amplified the process to create a captivating hooked picture which has won awards and been featured in several publications.  She continues to experiment with dyeing techniques and enjoys sharing her expertise with others. Mariah divides her time between serving as a board member of Green Mountain Rug School and teaching high school physics, chemistry, and special education in Westbrook, Maine.
